Train Wreck

Sure crossing gates would help but it will not stop people from trying to beat a train across a crossing.People need to be educated about the dangers of grade crossing wrecks. It takes a train that is 110 cars long loaded with coal traveling at 55 mph one and a half miles to stop. He can not stop on a dime. when that train hits that car it is a 4000 to one ratio That is like your car running over a pop can. we need to think.

I always liked to stop & watch the trains go by!
"I had to stop for the Train" is a better excuse for being late than any other I can think of!

These tragic accidents occur at traffic lights ordinary stop signs also. Don't they need gates too? Think how easy it is to roll through a red light or a stop sign when your in a hurry. Someone should do something. We drivers should not have to be responsible for driving safetly.

What's a little patience? Because they clearly had none here and were reckless they paid the ultimate price. They got what they deserved. Anyone can clearly see that was ignorant and dangerous.

people dont watch every security camera every second of every day... and even if they were, what could they have done?

oh! she died too? i've seen this video before, but i thought i heard that only those two children died! i hope that the family can cope for what she did. it pretty stupid what some people would do so that they won't have to wait for a couple of minutes. or even seconds.

It is tragic that her kids had to die....

Doesn't matter if it isn't their fault. The fact remains that it is a horrible experience for a train crew. If they did absolutely everything right, they still relive that accident for the rest of their lives.

I know. Once the engineer puts on the brakes it's behind his or her control. I know its not the engineer's fault and just know it hurts them when things like this happen.

i would wait for the train for 2 reasons:
1. its a hell of a lot safer
2. i enjoy watching trains anyway

plus, csxES44DC, i agree, but its not like they could help it. it takes about 5 min. for a train to slow down if there going a normal speed. but yeah... i would feel bad, but not like it was my fault
