Central Park (1st Lap) Inline Speed Skating Marathon

noob, dont commend if you dont know anything about this.
here in dutch we skate a marathon 30 minutes ~5 or 8 laps. and not national so you wonder why they driving not like crazy guys?

Just like bike racing, it'd be much better if there were like.. 5 or 10 people.. the massive mob is annoying and it seems like no one is really trying by themselves

we have bigger wheels nowadays, but less people competing. The central park marathon is unfortunately no more.

looks like this race was before the "big wheel revolution".
its amazing how quickly the sport has grown.

i have not really watched inline speedskating even speed skating opn ice is not to popular in medicine hat and its defintly a shame cause in my club there are onlt 3 older skaters and then we have a bunch of little little kids and its hard for us to improve because we are not all at the same level but it is defintly a sport no one should be insaulting inless they have tried it out because its an amazing sport for sure

The NYC skate marathon is a 100Km (64mi) race. Long-track's longest race is usually 10km. Also these guys are double-pushing which is a totally different technique from ice.

When it comes to asthetics, I like watching ice-technique, for sure, but double-push on inlines also looks really cool.

well u give a good point but i have never tried inline speed skating only ice skating but it was so much fun the best sport ever to be invented i would say for many reason, it is all about tech and personal fittness with sonme will power and in speed skating anything can happen caus ei have seen and pulled some amazing things in racing and its pure greatness

These guys are racing for alot longer than long track skaters. So they cant bend their knees to the same extent. I will agree with you the technique on ice is less forgiving that on inline. i will also say that some inline skaters have extraordinary technique.

im more into ice speedskating if u ever watch that u can see the tech diffrence they are alot lower bend the knees more and instead of gainning speed on the straight away its all about the corner but still very difficult to make a clean pass

Dumb, 7 minutes long and nobody even falls down or gets in a fight.

This was back in 2002, when the park drive was smooth and fast.
