  • Though I've never ...

Though I've never denied that the Marine Silent Drill Team out of 8th and I are awesome at precision drill, I still personally believe that the US Navy Honor Guard drill team has more of a variety of things they do w/their rifles. Maybe it's because I was apart of that unit, maybe not. Regardless, I salute every member of the US Armed forces equally.

  • I can do that :D, ...

I can do that :D, but seriously, these guys are great. Much respect to anyone on the SDP, one of my favorite drill teams in the world.

Theres just so much history, just goes to show you what 25 people who love drill can do. Their shows are all amazing.

@ 1:51, the caption identifies "Emanual Salazar" as a "Capt."

The red piping on his Dress Blue seams clearly identify him as an enlisted Marine.

  • Marine corps ...

Marine corps officers do not have the red trim on their uniforms. Also,in the ceremonial dress uniform (white pants) officers usually wear a sam browne belt. All the officers I saw the when I was at 8th and I wore that uniform.

  • The gold band ...

The gold band around his cover designates him as an officer.

Also, (and you cannot see the detail here) Capt. Baxter's gold Eagle, Globe & Anchor afixed to his cover and collar is entwined with SILVER rope.

Another detail you will not see in the interview that designates a Marine Corps officer is the "quarterfoil" ornament embroidered atop Capt. Baxters cover.

Quarterfoil allowed naval marksmen positioned in crow's nests to distinguish friend from foe.
