all i have to say is good for you in that you were able to make that step forward. for everyone of you that make there are hundreds of us that don't and are stuck in our bodies for life. i'm very happy for you.

Thanks for posting! This was well-said and heartfelt. I've heard people making comments lately to the tune of "well if a black person wants to be white, do we say they have racial identity disorder and give them surgery?" The argument stops working when one realizes that feeling like a man or feeling like a woman is not normally a *decision*. There's some great books out now that legitimize transsexualism--young adult books even!--and I'm happy about the positives finally coming to light.

I am a 22 year old black Jamaican, and right now
its black people hating gays, where in the past we had whites discriminating the black.

People stop the racism, humans are made as an equal.

Of course not, but those who don't agree are polite and mature enough not to spew their ignorance everywhere. Anyone who lives their life to gain other people's approval and acceptance is a coward who will never be truly happy. I have the love and acceptance of all of my family and many friends and loved ones. Any other acceptance or approval beyond that is gravy; it won't make or break my self-esteem at all.

Yes, it is a fascinating world. What I find crazy is that people are willing to hate and hurt and kill others based on ignorance and fear. Based on prejudices and misconceptions, people who know nothing of what it's like to live other people's lives are all too willing to pronounce judgments on those lives. It's all very sad. Fortunately, more than 95% of the comments that people leave are positive, which I find very encouraging.

Clearly it was. Just as clearly it was an opportunity to make a statement, so I did! :)

The world is coming to a place where people like me no longer need live in shame or fear because ignorant, hateful people try to make us ashamed or afraid. It's coming to a place where people can purposefully click on a video title with "transsexual" in it for the purpose of leaving a spiteful or stupid comment, and we can be unaffected by their judgment and hatred. It's coming to a place where we are no longer discouraged by those who don't see the courage it takes us to be true to ourselves.
