its not allowed to carry women like that...its a sacred dance..and the one dancing is represented as the princess..royalty..and im sure is not allowed to do such thing to a royal princess..and incorporating ballet moves to a traditional dance such as this one..not really cool...

It saddens me to hear about this debate, the purist versus the modern version. I implore our Muslim brethren for greater understanding. Artistic pursuits like these are meant to be shared. I'm sure no disrespect was meant by the LDT. In fact, it is a tribute to the Maranao contribution to Filipino culture. I completly agree that this version is completely unique and very creative. Let's respect each other by recognizing that each has the right to b difernt, be it in dance or religious outluk :)

Saw this company in NYC - the toughest audience - they were INCREDIBLE. Great combination of modern technique blended with traditional form. A company of young dancers who I support wholeheartedly. Thank you!

i would love to dance with a company like leyte... i wish there were groups like this in colorado.... but hopefully there will be since it's expanding here....
