  • Thanks. Your ...

Thanks. Your comments are great and already I have begun to think about new ways to play and teach this stuff.

There's really not one way, but a combination of many ways that people can learn.

Learn something one way, and then you'll find theres 10 other ways to learn it and apply it.

I find I learn new stuff all the time by the way people learn.

    Have a great one!

  • No problem, its ...

No problem, its just me being anal. In terms of a solo and what not notes can be all over the place, texas blues has note from outside the scales that sound good for example. I just realised though i didn't actually say how good some of the licks were from the video :)

  • Good point, but I ...

Good point, but I look at theoretical and playing positions to be different subjects.

There are some awesome positions you can learn that are not starting on the root note. Beginners can learn this pattern and begin soloing immediately.

To each his own. Thanks for the comment.

  • True but for the ...

True but for the purposes of introducing people into the subject starting the scales not on the Root (meaning modes basically) seems an odd place to start to me. Besides, an E major not starting on a root isn't "technically" an "E major".

  • That's right. It ...

That's right. It is a C#m Pentatonic, but it is also an E Major Pentatonic depending on what your root note is.

You don't always have to start your scales on the root note, but you do have to know which notes to start and end on, which is an entirely different subject.

    Thanks.

  • Major pent in E ...

Major pent in E starts on the 12th fret not the 9th on the bottom E though, you played an E minor pent then a C# minor at the start of the video.
