http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3Zsvml57PE is a video describing how to learn more about the Mormon Church.

On a spring day in 1820 14-year-old Joseph Smith sought solitude in a grove of trees and prayed to know which church was true. God the Father and Jesus Christ, "two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description," appeared and spoke with him. This is a critical part of Mormon history.

Wondering which of the many churches to join, Joseph had followed the counsel in the Bible's book of James: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." The Lord told Joseph "that all the religious denominations were believing in incorrect doctrines" and that he was to await further instructions from on high. "In a state of calmness and peace indescribable," Joseph left that sacred grove knowing the reality of our Father in Heaven and His resurrected Son, Jesus Christ.

Joseph Smith's first vision stands today as the greatest event in world history since the birth, ministry, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. After centuries of darkness, the Lord opened the heavens to reveal His word and restore His Church through His chosen prophet.

Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, not once, but innumerable times throughout his life. He translated the Book of Mormon, organized the true Church of Jesus Christ upon the earth once more and restored the plain and precious truths which were lost due to the apostasy of men. He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God!

  • Oh, how lovely was ...

Oh, how lovely was the morning!
    Radiant beamed the sun above.
Bees were humming, sweet birds singing,
    Music ringing thru the grove,
    When within the shady woodland
Joseph sought the God of love,
    When within the shady woodland
Joseph sought the God of love.

  • Wow, that sounds a ...

Wow, that sounds a lot like you got your information from the South Park episode. Reliable.

Even if Joseph had translated it identically the same, the original manuscript could have been altered in an attempt to disprove him as a prophet. This wasn't just some innocent game of "I'm going to hide them to see what he does." But as cunning as men are, God is always smarter. :)

  • when he started ...

when he started translating from the book, the first pages were hidden by the sponsor's wife (the guy who was paying for the printing costs) so that if he was truly inspired by GOD he could translate them again, but smart as he was he said that GOD was angry at him and that now GOD told him to translate from a different book. ONLY MORONS BELIEVE IN THIS CRAP.

  • The concept of " ...

The concept of "salvation" is a commercially packaged product. They have what you need, and you can only get it from them, but you don't get it in this world.

There isn't one person in this world that knows what happens after death no matter what they claim.

Religion is a scam. People aren't intrinsically good or bad, good or evil. Religion sells fear, and if there is anything intrinsically bad in this world, it is manipulation by fear.

  • There is no way ...

There is no way he's a prophet of God. Every time I pose a question about the religion, nobody can answer it. They just come out with some kind of predetermined speech Mormons are supposed to give people with questions, but have nothing to do with your questions. It shouldn't even be called a church, because you have to pay 10% of your salary to be a member. You can't even watch your child get married in the temple until you pay all back dues! Sounds like a Moose Lodge, not a church.

  • The Bible does not ...

The Bible does not say that. The Book of Revelation says that. And the book of revelation was written before the books of the Bible were assembled.
