UNTIL MY DYING DAY, THIS SONG WILL ALWAYS BELONG TO MY FIRST LOVE...... I ALWAYS LIKED THE WAY IT SOUNDED, BACK WHEN I WAS A KID IN THE 1970S', AND I COULDN'T EXPLAIN IT BUT IT SORT OF ALWAYS STAYED WITH ME. NOW ALL THESE YEARS LATER, AND HEARTBREAKS LATER, NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY I COULD NEVER LET THIS SONG GO. ALL OF US HAVE LOVED AND HAD TO LEAVE SOMEONE BEHIND, THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT IS. YOU CAN LOVE SOMEONE AS TRUE AS THE SKY IS BLUE, BUT YOU CAN'T CHANGE ANYONE TO REFLECT HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THEM. IT IS A DIFFERENT WORLD TODAY IN 2009, YOU BASICALLY CAN LOVE WHOEVER YOU WANT TO, IT WASN'T THAT EASY IN THE 1970S'. EVEN THOUGH IT BREAKS YOUR HEART, BECAUSE YOU FEEL YOU FOUND YOUR SOULMATE, YOU JUST CAN NOT CHANGE ANYONES' ORIENTATION TO MATCH YOUR OWN. AND IF THAT LOVE CHOOSES TO HAVE A LIFE WITH SOMEONE ELSE AND TO BE HAPPY , IT MAY KILL YOUR SOUL, BUT YOU JUST HAVE TO WISH BOTH OF THEM WELL AND WISH THAT THEY DANCE AT THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY, WITH ALL THEIR CHILDREN........WILLIE '79..........WITH LOVE, BILLY RALPH WEEDEN, 2009..................

The New Colony Six STILL perform in the Chicago area... Ronnie Rice (the writer and lead singer on this song) now performs as a solo act around Chicago, but joins the New Colony Six for an occasional show. He's a GREAT guy, and an incredible talent!

Turned off Top 40 radio in the fall of 1968 and then went back to the radio after falling in love in April of '69 and this song is playing on the radio and I thought,wow! They are singing just to me and how cool is that? Still have the 45 and it's also on my iPod so love you guys whoever you are!

New Colony Six should have had more national hits!
