The SV-98 is a huge departure from Russian sniper rifles. It is actually pretty accurate but will not be replacing the SVD. The great thing about the new Russian rifle is it will be chambered in the Winchester 308 nato round. Super cool. The biggest draw backs are the very slow and stiff action and the outdated PKS-07 fixed 7x scope. If the Russian SV-98 had modern American or Nato optics the SV-98 would be able to be as accurate as some nato sniper rifles. Good job Russia

I cannot agree, point is, that maybe you CAN hit the man at 600m with M16+ACOG, but you CANNOT kill him right through the LVL3 bulletproof vest...And that SVD with sniper rounds CAN do+SVD is more an SPR than sniper rifle.I agree with what you talk about VSS, its more an armor piercing MP5SD than sniper rifle.And I cannot agree with what you say about OSV 50 cal. I´ve heard it doesn´t have proper sniper rounds by now.

I can tell now from your answers you have no idea what your talking about. You know nothing about balistics, training, and or military equipment design. The Dragunov is a fine weapon. I would like to have one for hunting. Its a really cool looking weapon. But dont compare the SVD to some of the best sniper rifles in the US or Nato. Just like any Russian equipment cannot be compared to the best US or Europe has to offer. Russian Equipment is ok but never close to the best. Sorry

There are four marks against the SVD. First the Cartidge is inferior, the rifle itself is inferior in fit finish and overall design, third the Russian optics using the posp design is way inferior, and to top it off the Russian sniper training is by far inferior. The SVD may get better results if used by a US trained sniper using the Chinese SVD in Winchester 308 with US or German optics and accurized by US military.

the dragunov is if not equal, better than the M14 DMR. Any SVD, just as long as its made correctly. the SVD rifle fires the 7.62x54mm which is deadlier than the 30-06.

Appears your breathing the wrong air. The Dragunov could never compare with any of the sniper rifles made by the US. What kind of Dragunov are you talking about? Maybe I can help with your confusion. The Chinese Dragunov is a little better because of the Winchester round it fires. Maybe your thinking of a different rifle made by a different country. So your saying the SVD is equal to a M14 sniper issue rifle?

Are you kidding? The Dragunov is no where close to any American Sniper rifle. The Dragunov is not even more accurate than US rifles that are 50 years older. Ask any Russian sniper, they will tell you.

oh yeah and ryan7ryan...AK is one of the most relyeble weapons in the world. it works in a dirt, sand and cheap. thats why terros mostly preffer this weapon. It suppose to kill...and it does it well. And yeah..I did shoot from it.
