  • the house I grew up ...

    the house I grew up in had an old cast iron furnace..
    It was a steam system..
    it had two doors on the front that looked like doors on an old steam locomotive train. The top one had a glass viewing port with a metal cover (so you didn't see the flame if you didn't want to..) The doors were for basically letting you have access to the inside for cleaning.. The burner started a lot slower than your system and wound up. it started low and got higher and louder whirrrrrrrrr before lighting.
