  • yes its about time ...

yes its about time this was in production
BUT will the big company,s let it happen I DONT THINK SO. There is to much money involved. So please every one DO IT YOUR SELF
THERE IS LOADS OF HELP ON THE NET AND IT DOESNT LOOK THAT HARD TO DO.PLEASE DO IT BEFORE THE BIG COMPANYS DO AND MAKE IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO DO IT FOR OUR SELVES
    AND THEY WILL

  • Agreed. It's as if ...

Agreed. It's as if the interviewer wants everyone to know that he's smart too. So he asks these questions that have obvious answers. The engineer is too polite to tell the guy whose fingers keep appearing in the frame to shut up and just run the camera. So time is wasted while the engineer answers the pseudo-naive questions.

  • Great series. I ...

Great series. I would have paid money for this, except for the interviewer who makes it so much harder to follow!!! I feel for that poor engineer.

What the !@#$%??? They edited out the name of the engine right at the end of the video! They don't want us to know, or they'll get in trouble?

  • The reason for ...

The reason for timing BTDC is so the fuel will be providing power by the time the piston gets to TDC. There is no way Gasoline can burn faster than the piston getting to TDC. That is why we have "timing advance" systems even on a diesel.

I don't know about the 100% h2o claims but the hybrid set up is awesome!!
I just posted video about the guys who sell the plans for $19.95. hho-hybrid . com or go to my videos I have one on my Dodge Stealth

so i guess i have to ask how much hho must be delivered to this unit for it to idle and then how much more to make it run full throttle

  • yeah,petroleum has ...

yeah, petroleum has a larger heat energy potential, but it takes heavier machinery to harness that heat and therefore more drag/friction/mechanical energy loss.
look at the power/weight ratio of a diesel
engine compared to a gasoline engine.
diesel has more potential energy but needs a heavier geared power plant because of the pressures involved to create that output.

  • This is the whole ...

This is the whole idea behind using a higher "octane rating" fuel for racing engines; the fuel burns slower, thereby reducing the possibility of detonation or preignition - both of which can quickly lead to broken pistons, ring lands, etc.

As far as heat content goes, the amount of chemical energy contained in hydrogen is MUCH less than that of gasoline.

  • No, thats not what ...

No, thats not what Im saying, and you apparently didnt understand what they were saying in the video either.

A faster burn time brought on by a different fuel or an advanced spark is not necessarily going to give you more power. Infact, in most cases, it will lead to a decrease in power and much higher thermal and mechanical loads which will decrease the longevity of the system.

  • I think what ...

I think what they're trying to explain is that petrol has a slower burn that produces more heat. heat equals loss in energy. also with hydrogen the timing can be retarded to TDC which also improves efficiency. I agree that petrol has more potential energy though. I think the thicker the oil the more energy is stored. But I also think that it take more to get that energy out. ie diesel burns hotter than gas. am I wrong? love your input.

  • The burn time of ...

The burn time of hydrogen doesnt mean much, the energy content does. Petrol has a MUCH higher (around 3000 times) energy content per liter.

  • I think it's safe ...

I think it's safe to assume that anyone who will watch this entire clip, will probably already have a general knowledge of an ICE. And possibly even understand that the burn time of hydrogen is much faster than petrol.
    just a thought

There is a lesson to be learned from this video series and the camera man...the tripod is a great invention (and will be used in any videos I produce)!

well why dont you shut up syncro, because Mr Roy leaves a lot of things out. This is aimed at all people and NOT only professionals and Steven Harris makes things understandable for everyone.
So shut up and commend them for making a free video for you to comment on. I dont see you making such a video or explaining anything to anyone.
    Shut up allready

I totally Agree. I find the Professor guy very interesting, yet I bet if I had a class with this gu, back in highschool mind you not college, I would fall asleep. The camera guy keeps chiming in I get MAD which keeps me awake. Plus he is no dummy either. Interesting stuff all-in-all. Google PLAN it doesn't quite show up, says something about gray hair.
