A helium-filled balloon is less dense than air and it can float upwards. When the balloon is shrunk by pouring liquid nitrogen over it, it becomes denser than air and falls to the ground.
Upon warming and expanding, it will fly up again. This video is produced in Singapore. More videos on www.plenrich.com

  • fingers would be ...

fingers would be protected for brief durations by what's know as the leidenfrost effect. the liquid boils creating a protective gas layer. i've poured it across my arm as a demo. i'm not recommending you try it. if it gets caught in your clothes it telds to linger long enough to "burn" but still not too bad. yes, you can even put it in your mouth if you keep it moving. again i'm not recommending you try any of these things out.

  • Indeed. Liquid ...

Indeed. Liquid nitrogen is not THAT bad. Its 200 degrees colder than your hand, sure, but fire is just as much hotter. Our body contains lots of water, which has a very high heat capacity. So it takes large amount of cooling or heating to do more than superficial damage. Not "instant lose of a finger".

Just as you can set sambuca on fire in your mouth, it is possible to hold liquid nitrogen in the mouth for a brief period. I've done it several times myself.

-But dont say i told you to try!
