Native American Indian World & Peace

I am Mi'kmaq from Canada and proudly wear my hair long. I don't think it's right to demonize White people or those of European ancestry. There were a LOT of them that STOOD UP for us. It's too easy to focus on the negative and be confrontational. I remember speaking with my Grandfather and hearing his wisdom. Hatred only brings suffering and misery.

It was the British who started scalping.

..they paid for Indian scalps.

The British also started commercial slavery, concentration camps, genocide and pretty much everything that clear thinking people find appalling.

That's how come such a small country got to 'own' most of the world at the time of the British Empire.

By theft, murder deceit, wholesale killing and the persecution of any people who didn't do as they said.

...and a big Navy with lots of guns.

It doesn't matter from where you are or who you are as long you can be good and helpful to others and I think that this song is great because of it's peace. It makes you to understand that we have to develop all good qualities in ourselves.

Wow, all I want to say is beautiful. Its time people of the Americas realize and learn what a treasure of life it is to live amongst the Native American Indians. The need to correctly learn your culture has really just begun. Freedom was really already here when the Europeans arived. Now it must be safeguarded from the terrorists who want to destroy every fiber and legend of your culture.

Get out of here with this crap. Way to romaticize that American Indian. Way to homegenize them into one group.

What about other American Indians still found in larger numbers in Mexico, Central American, and South AMerica?

White's were what way? I'm not saying white people don't do evil things I'm just saying people like to portray Native Americans as some kind of mystical beings when they are people inclined to violence, greed, hate and everything else that any other person of any other color is suscetible to.

Butttt white people did act that way. It can't be justified just because the Native American's where doing it. White people where from far away had harsh ways and hearts full of greed and superiority. And here we are today.

The native American concept of war was vastly different (in most cases) than the western concept of war. War was largely based on small raid parties, ceremonial, and NOT based on taking vast numbers of casualties. Besides this, scalping originated with the EUROPEANS and was later adopted by a number of Native groups. While some Native groups did conduct in frequent and large-scale warfare resulting in large casualities (ie Aztecs) this was not the norm. Get your facts straight.

War was definetely a way for status and to break the monotany of daily life. War was very cultural, especially with the plains tribes. I think it's interesting that people like to make Native Americans look like totally innocent in everything when they are people just like everyone else. They aren't as mystical and mysterious as everyone makes them out to be.

some? how about nearly ALL made war on their "neighbor" indians. They didnt view themselves as all of same race - Indians but hated different tribes even though they were all of the same race - but if you weren't in the same tribe - their hobby and way of life was to attack, kill and enslave the neighboring tribe. they even had seasons where the attacks were made and then they took the winter off. It was sort of like baseball.
