i think smacking should not be thrown around it should only be used as a last resort, i was smacked but only as a last resort, at first she or he would calm me down, but by no streth of the human mind is smacking your child the right thing to do, because if i swear or say something bad in that act i am not harming anyone physically but smacking hurts and is a abuse of the power that a parent has

The "time and place for anger" is when you or your family is being physically attacked. But this child is more mature than hot-tempered adults. At least this kid can control it until he decides to put on a display.

Smacking children is right, it teaches them that there is a consequence to bad behavior. Could your approach be why our classrooms are out of control and behavior is at an all time low point?

No, there is a time and place for anger. But this kid is just learning how to manipulate his parents. I say a swat on the ass would fix it. The problem is they probably have never done that so the kid is now conditioned to this behaviour to get attention. Nice going.

Only if you use the kid to beat the parents with. Otherwise, it's ok.

I didn't mean specifically smacking him. I was referring to a light swat on the butt. But the crib part stands. If the kid isn't hungry, or teething, or wet, then he's throwing a tantrum because he's cranky or tired. But the fact that he's only crying when he knows someone can see him means he's just doing it to get attention.

I would hate to be your kid, smaking children is wrong it don't teach them nothing just to hit the parents back and throwing him in his crib mmmm yes well, maybe just put him in his crib and ignore or have a tantrum yourself that works wonders I know cos my mother use to do it and we would stop.

Huh? Why would you want to beat the parents?? They do the best there is - ignore his/her temper cause everything else would only encourage it. (And they film it too to bring us a funny clip ;-))
