This is the Enercon E-126, the first wind turbine with 6 MW rated power, rotor diameter: 126m (413ft), hub height: 135m(450ft). Two of these giant wind power units have been built for testing at an onshore location, Rysumer Nacken, near Emden, in the northwest of Germany. Here each WPU is expected to produce about 18 Mio kWh per year, enough for more than 4500 homes.

  • Levelised Cost Of ...

Levelised Cost Of Energy is a cost of generating electricity for a particular system. It is including all the costs over its lifetime: initial investiment, operations and maintenance, cost of fuel, cost of capital etc. The LCOE for a 2MW Wind Power Unit, operation time 20 years range from 4 ct/kWh to 6 ct/kWh (Eurocent) the external costs are extremely low. Compare this to the LCOE of Fossil-Fuel Power Plants here the external costs alone are in the range of 6 to 8 ct/kWh
