A raccoon came into the yard in the daytime, and we threw some organic corn chips on the lawn for him. A few minutes later the deer showed up, and the raccoon ran up a tree - for a few moments. Just as the raccoon was brave enough to head for the chips, the deer noticed the chips.

The deer are used to grazing on the clover flowers and leaves in our lawn, and liked the uncommon chip bonanza. After the raccoon ate his chips, the deer decided they didn't want him anymore on what they consider the "deer's lawn."

    It's not cold blooded, at least not if you do it ethically. And really, deer tastes pretty good. It's unfortunate that some people characterize deer hunting as such a bad thing, but there is really more to it than meets the eye, believe it or not.

    Elly: Yes, I must admit that raccoons can be monsters--even terrifying when angered/hungry. Maybe my offering of water and bread is "protection" payment to keep them out of trouble. I need to keep my raccoon fantasy world. They far outnumber me and I want them to stay happy. To me though, they are cute. They even hold my hand and walk beside me on two legs.

    Good video.. I'd throw some chips out and wait there with my 12 gauge shotgun and see how many I could shoot before they made it out of the yard... That little one looks like good eatin.. Oh well bow season starts oct 4 so I will wait.. Where are you loacted?
