REAL DEAL GET OTHERS AND LOCAL ADMIN PASSWORDS! NO SAFE MODE, NO CMD PROMPTING NEEDED, THIS ISN'T RESETTING/OVERWRITING PASSWORDS, ITS GETTING THEM! THIS WORKS STRAIGHT FROM A LIMITED ACCOUNT. IT 100% WORKS AND I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE.

Using a little program called Cain and Abel, which you can use without installing, this video demonstrates how to get local user's accounts off a Windows XP machine.

You don't need access to the command prompt, you don't need to change the user's password, using Windows LM Hashes you find out what any local password (inluding administrator's) is, all on a limited account and an outside computer!

Install Cain and Abel on a USB drive (ON A HOME COMPUTER/ADMIN ACCOUNT), locate packet.dll, pthreadVC.dll, WanPacket.dll and wpcap.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32, and copy them to your USB drive too. Now you can copy those back to the target computer's system32 folder to use Cain on a LIMITED ACCOUNT.
I referred to my USB drive as my 'J drive' accidentally on the video.

BTW I don't breath like darth vader, that's just my mic! And I'll try to clean up the video next time, it's my first time using that video software and it did a horrible and ghastly job of zooming in and out which I didn't realise at the time!

  • It needs to be ...

It needs to be initially installed on an administrator account. If you are using Windows Vista, I can't help you because I haven't tested using that OS yet.

  • You will want to ...

You will want to disable your antivirus when installing and using Cain and Abel, or flag it as an ok program or tell your antivirus to ignore it.

  • C+A is completely ...

C+A is completely controllable and uninstallable by you.
Because though the program does deal with a 'grey area' of computing (exploiting windows, cracking passwords etc), many AntiVirus vendors have labelled it as some sort of virus/trojan. Many similar programs have been labelled, this to make it look like your AntiVirus is doing a 'good job' by picking up as many programs up as possible. In fact, all it does is confuse normal people as to what are good programs and which are genuinely bad.

Again are you running Vista or XP?
Who knows perhaps somehow this functionality has been broken with the new update. :(
I don't know yet, haven't tested it yet.

  • Are you using XP ...

Are you using XP for this? It might not work on Vista, I haven't tested this method on Vista yet properly.
It looks like 4.9.22 is a new version, but I'm pretty sure I've run v4.9.21 fine I wouldn't think a small update like that would stop this sort of functionality.

Other users have found (thanks) I should have remember that having the .dll files in the same location as the Cain.exe should work also for the 4 dll files needed. So just put them in the same folder as your portable Cain folder.
