  • The computer has a ...

The computer has a LOT of room to compensate with timing. It will adjust timing based on the knock sensors. The computer will keep bumping up the timing until it senses knock or runs up against the pre-programmed "wall". Race gas allows for a lot more timing.

It runs around 15k to do this conversion. The 3.6L engines are REALLY expensive now compared to 5 years ago. The ideal engine is the 95 993 version without "DriveBlock" embedded in the computer (security feature from Porsche starting in late Sept. 95) The engine is 10-11k of the conversion cost :)

  • I'm kinda dumb.. ...

I'm kinda dumb.. LOL It laid down 238hp and 211lb ft of tq. It was rich between 5k and redline. I'm playing with the Motronic chip right now. It is sluggish on throttle blip (light flywheel) and has the typical tendency to die when you come off throttle abruptly (light flywheel issue) soo.. make some changes to the code and try again. It *should* spin close to 300hp at the crank and lay down 240@ 20% drivetrain loss and 255@15% based on engine dyno numbers and chassis dyno numbers.
