IN the smelly US, hockey has to compete with NFL, NBA, Roller Derby, Monster Truck, NASCAR, Formula 1, Indoor Football, MLS, Redneck sports, and celebrity culture.

and how does the nhl NEED the usa? the teams that lose money (mostly american teams) dont have to worry because the nhl looks after its teams, so because of this, teams share the profit, so canadian teams actually give money to american teams to help them stay on their feet. of course there are some good hockey markets in the states, but hockey in long island, new jersey, florida, nashville etc are struggling..

buffalo the new hockey town? maybe in the states, but montreal was and always will be the actual hockey town.
