  • Ensure you are ...

Ensure you are working on the correct layer...you need the layer dock to be open to do all of the following - see my 'recovering lost docks' tutorial...

    1. Left Click the layer you want to resize on the Layers Dock (this will select it and it'll change colour if it wasn't already active'. Then Right click on the image in the image window and select Layer -> Scale Layer...

    2. Make sure you have the correct layer selected/active...see above

    3. See my recovering docks tutorial.

    Hope this helps

  • If you save your ...

If you save your image as a .jpg instead of a .xcf file you can use it the way you would use any jpeg picture.

xcf. is the native file format for the Gimp. If you open a file with this extension from Windows explorer then Gimp will open the UNFINISHED image for editing. Open a .jpg and you picture viewing software will show you the finished product.

  • Thank you for the ...

Thank you for the tutorial. It is very helpful, however, I am having a few problems. If possible, please help me figure it out.
    1. After cutting and pasting the image to the new background, it is extremely to big. It would fit on the new background. How do you resize it to fit?
    2. When pasting to another layer, when I try to move the image, the gray box is moving and not just the picture.
    3. The box with your floating and background selection does not appear on my screen when working.
