What hunting is fair, it could be argued, fair chase rules apply if the animal hunted has some chance of escape, and in its own domain. As you pointed out with a high powered rifle it leaves little chance, but still the animal would have more than what appears here.
Even less again if it was hunted from the safety of a 4 wheel drive cabin as some hunters do.

High powered rifle and wild animal is no where near fair and not ethical to most people who dont hunt. I hunt but I would not insult anyones intelligence by saying its fair on the hunted animal.

South Africa allows people to breed lions and raise them in cages until a few minutes before they are shot. It is a crime and ethicals uhnters want it banned. If you think it is OK, then you are not an ethical hunter.

I reckon you might be right hh338 I thought the video looked a bit strange,I personally couldnt shoot a lion,rhino,elephant,only ferals that are deemed a menace with stock and what have you, even if I was offered to hunt them I wouldnt take it up..
If your so inclined then trophy hunting should be under fair chase rules, not set up like this seems.

This animal lived in a small cage his whole life until he was shot. He is a canned lion. You can see they pin him against a fence in every shot. They corner him early in the video and never let him escape, but the area was only a couple acres where he was shot, anyway. He was put in the fence only a couple of hours before this asshole shot him. This is still legal in South Africa, but it will never be moral.
