A blocking diode is necessary to keep current from flowing back into a pedal power bike generator when you get off and leave the power pack battery connected. The blocking diode seen here is from http://blockingdiode.com The permanent magnet motor / generator on your bike will still be spinning all day long zapping the energy out of your powerpack battery. Also the diode can get very hot if you don't have a heat sink attached to it. For example, if you are putting out 10 Amps on your bicycle generator, then the diode will be disapating approximately 8 Watts of power.

    what kind of diode are you using? i dont know much about diode or what ever, sorry. but can you show me or tell me what kind and where to get it. do radio shack have it.
