  • Yes you can. Not ...

Yes you can. Not necessary, just preferred. No such thing as letting stored current escape by sitting, only by shorting out or using does current become exhausted, and the current coming from the PSU is not high voltage enough for that to be an issue. Thanks for your comments, Cliff

Hey, great vid. Your voice is cool too.

I was wondering if I could just twist the wires together really well and just wrap 'er up with electrical tape. Is the shrink tubing and soldering really necessary?

I also heard you should let your PSU sit a couple of days to let any "leftover" current get outta there.

  • I read you can test ...

I read you can test an atx power supply by disconnecting power cord then putting paper clip in green wire slot and next black ground wire slot in the main motherboard power connector. This has worked for me but can this be done on a switching power supply? How do you test a switching power supply? Mine comes on for about a second or two, enough to get fan to move about one revolution then goes off. Thanks for this video, you have a nice way of conducting yourself through this.

  • Yes, twist together ...

Yes, twist together and use black tape. Also you can use heat shrink tubing (before twisting together of course) You just want to make sure no bare wires are exposed.

  • Check your heatsink ...

Check your heatsink to mke sure it is mounted correctly. If the temp you are talking about is the CPU, you should check the CPU fan for operation, and insure that the heatsink is not clogged up with dust and dirt. Also, you may want to add another case fan to increase airflow thru the case. Hope this helps.
