Part 2 of 2 of Not Knot.

Not Knot is a guided tour into computer-animated hyperbolic space. It proceeds from the world of knots to their complementary spaces -- what's not a knot. Profound theorems of recent mathematics show that most known complements carry the structure of hyperbolic geometry, a geometry in which the sum of three angles of a triangle always is less than 180 degrees.

This is mind-blowing. I've wanted to see the whole video ever since I saw the clips on "Beyond the Mind's Eye." One of these days I really want to figure out how this all works so I can make a computer program that can render hyperbolic space, but the subject confuses me.

I remember seeing a book about Thurston's geometric findings in a community college library; i didn't really have the time to read the whole thing, but I remember it was meant as a kind of popular exposition, although, it did have some equations; still, it's very nice to see this and understand some of this! Makes me want to do mathematics and think!
