It's that somethin' in her voice that makes me wanna cry everytime. I think the difference is with Whitney is that she sings it from her vocalcords and Dolly her heart.

Whitney Houston does not have a "version" of this song. This is Dolly's song and Whitney merely sings it in a time where she has clearly run out of her own talent and must rely on someone else's fame and fortune to make a final push to salvage her career. How many hits did Whitney have of her own after her movie? Few if any as I recall. I can't say she did a bad job singing Dolly's song, but there will never be anyone that will hold a candle to Dolly's GENUINE HEARTFELT rendition of this song.
