This is a test video of a magnet motor using a spray can lid, coat hanger, old 12 volt drill motor magnets and wire. The pictures are of the hydro cell I made that has ran a 2200 watt generator for 45 min. I will soon have a video of the generator running on the cell.

  • I have been talking ...

I have been talking about this for decades.

While reading that I can nearly feel your excitement. Yip, you're right. Salt isn't recommendable for the cell, 'cause it corrodes everything. Yes I agree, KOH will work too.
I'm curious about if it will work a second time. :) Cheers!

  • Yes.. We also had ...

Yes.. We also had our doubts when we hooked up the gen. When it ran for more than a few min. we were jumping and screaming like little kids. We then plugged a shop vac into the gen. and it ran .. But after all of this we looked at all of the sludge and knew this was not going to be feasible unless we could find a way to stop it from sludging up. Also the water temp was getting very hot....

  • I will be using the ...

I will be using the distilled water and KOH the next time around. We are cutting new stainless to replace those now because they look burnt and ate away. The water we used to run the generator was well water with sea salt. After running the cell for any length of time the water became very much sludge like and a pain to clean. We will have another video within the next week or so or as soon as the weather is over the freezing mark.

  • If you try ...

If you try distilled water, you will get rid of the sludge. But only if the the stainless steel is high-grade.
You will also notice that distilled water alone won't conduct electricity. Add some baking soda to the distilled water, so it will work. While adding baking soda, keep an eye on the ampmeter!
Lookin' forward to see a vid of the generator running.
    Good luck!

  • Are you sure that ...

Are you sure that the "little" hydrogen cell alone has ran a 2200 W generator??
    Sounds pretty unreal to me.
Could you show a video of the cell running the generator?
    thx

  • This was just a ...

This was just a spur of the moment build using household materials. I will be building a better model of the same type so I can actually see any results. I didn't have much magnet wire but I do have a large spool on the way. along with everything else to build a better working motor.

The Hydro cell works great. The issues I am running into are sludge in the water. I haven't used distilled water yet but I will soon and have that test running a 2200 watt generator with this cell.
