and one more thing ... the AK-47 will never let you down even if you don't look after it.Throw it on the beach sand,leave it there a couple of days,pick it up and shoot (not a live target!).There will be rust which is dangerous for the metal,but will shoot like brand new!

i don't know the experience of those "professionals" but the guy with the AK doesn't know how to shoot with it.In a situasion,if he shoots like that, he woudn't hit even a rhino from 50 metres!The first thing you learn in a military service,when shooting,is never "hit" the trigger of the AK,like that guy on the film!First you have to press smoothly the trigger and then press it "to the metal",and from 800 metres you'll have 5-7,from 10 shots,in the kill zone!And still "make peace,not war"!

I have talked with a 101 veteran, and he happily admitted that Afghans fell only after hit to center chest or head.
Reason for that was the ammo.
He preferred the AK-47 and its variants.

7.62X39mm tumbles or pierces just the same, if the ammo is meant to do that.

I really cannot understand this; why bash the other weapon if you happen to like its opponent?
-Both are good weapons, their longevity proves that.
-Both have had overhauls and upgrades.

They do seem to favor M16 over AK, and gunner is either not used to the AK, or has not set the sights right.
-My personal weapon during war would be AK-47, and I know that it is close in weapon, but we could hit targets 400 meters.(Not every time, obviously.)

lets not forget the m14, congress & the jfk administration through it out 'cause they were too cheap... the m14 has 7.62x51NATO same diameter of the assault klashnikov's bullet but longer than the ak's 39mm cartridge; which means that the m14's cartridge has more grains of gun powder propellant in its cartridge. m14 was intended on being just as accurate as its shitty Predecessor... all i've heard about the m16 is that its " plastic jamming piece of S**t " w/ the impotent 5.56x45mm cartridge size

AK has proven to kick ass in Vietnam and soon Iraq.

reportly, when the AKs were seen with 30 round magazine, the M16s were adapted for its own 30 roung mag, and the same with the AK when Russia saw the M16's ammo, they adapted a simiiar round in the AK74

Your all ignorant in testing the smaller 5.56mm tumbles and causes more damage than the 7.62.If you give a soldier a 120mm canon they can hold they will want something bigger,do your homework.The AK is junk ,thats why we kicked the insurgents arse.

the ak-47 (7.62x39mm) cartridge is perfect for killing humans.
the m-16 cartridge 223(5.56x45mm) is just a varmint cartridge. intentionally made for shooting groundhogs and pest. there are hundreds of report of people being hit by the 223(5.56x45mm) cartridge and dont die right away, thats why right now the US arm force are starting to adopt the 6.8mmSPC cartridge with a better knock down power. i saw it on FUTURE WEAPONS.
218-219-220-221-222-(223)-224-225 are all varmint cartridges
