  • Hey Iam a new fan ...

Hey Iam a new fan and i've been singing my whole life, a self taught singer and i just want to say this causes a bit of strain on my voice and doesn't allow for me to relax for some reason. I sometimes find without training i keep getting into some bad habits, i wish to pursue singing as a career on broadway so i must know. Is it better to hit higher notes in your head voice then in a nice sounding falsetto? And i always seem to have a break in my octaves where i hit a point when i do falsetto.

Okay. I'm only 13. I am a huge Paramore junkie and saw Hayley's interview with you. I've sang forever, but I'm just now giving effort to improve my voice. I need extra range. I have slight trouble with straining with the high notes.

    any advice?

  • If you want a ...

If you want a successful music career outside of opera you most likely will not find what you need out of a university voice teacher. They'll teach you what's "right" all day but will you learn how to communicate to the common man through an ivory tower approach? Sadly... no.

  • I don't know why ...

I don't know why people like to claim that vocal fry damages the cords. It only damages the cord if u try to apply it to higher notes. Many basses use vocal fry on a frequent basis to hit their lowest register.

  • I agree with ...

I agree with bibliophilist. I think Brett is a fantastic marketer- hands down. But as far as a voice teacher.. is this guy even a college graduate? Seems to me he took a few voice lessons back in the day, put together a package of vocalises and stuff that worked for him, and claims hes the next Lamperti who can teach a rock to sing. So Brett, what music school did u go to?
