  • Too powerful an ...

Too powerful an actor to be squandered on McCarthys part. Can you imagine a reversal?. MacCarthy plays the drug dealer?. He couldn't bring one tenth the menace to the role that spader did.

i would think this movie would be triggering to people who use drugs even though i is supposed to show how drugs are bad.
similar to how the eating disorder movies show someone suffering from anorexia i find them really triggering.

  • True, but the book ...

True, but the book really doesn't have a plot (which is the whole theme that Ellis was going for), so there was some necessary Hollywood touching-up applied to the novel.

I'm surprised they would'nt have thought to cast J.Spader as the lead in this-no disrespect to McCarthy.

YES! the two of them are great here. Well.. they are awesome actors, that's why after all these years there are still acknowledged.

True Colors is a political of 1991, but still has that 80's look. James Spader and John Cusack are best friends in an atmosphere of betrayal. The two of them give great great! preformances. I bought the movie in eBay and when I get it, I'm gonna upload it here. =D

  • I agree with you, I ...

I agree with you, I love Andrew Mccarthy, he's so cute and I think he's a fine actor (not an extraordinary one though), but I htink that in this movie he was miscast, and Jemi gertz too! Instead robert Downey jr. and James Spader are perfect to play sleazy and dark characters! I don't know anything about the movie True colours, but now I wanna see it!

  • Not always the ...

Not always the sleazy character. There's a movie called True Colors were James Spader is the good guy, and John Cusack is the bad guy!!! unbelievable right?

I'm not surprised hearing that Bret Easton Ellis has hated the movie, this far it has almost nothing to do with that great book. And as much as I love Andrew McCarthy, he is so not the right choice for playing Clay. And Jemi Gertz does a terrible Blair too.

I'm still gonna watch it thought.
    Thanks for uploading.

  • 80steenmovies ...

80steenmovies you're right, James Spader is born to play evil characters, and he was so hot, now I' don't find him attactive anymore, but at that time he was sexy! Also Robert Downey jr. here is great, as a matter of fact Breat Easton Ellis, the author of the omonymous book, has stated that he hated the movie but thought that the casting of James Spader and Robert Downey jr was right!
