By gris19 [Affiliate User] 1199739852 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWell, I did essentially make a boo boo saying that nothing happened during the 80's. Compared to other times in history though, it was not so great. We look at the world through glasses with blinders on

By nanakuligyrl [Affiliate User] 1199541772 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt's true that every generation associates their childhood/teen years with a more innocent time, because to that generation, it was. But it is all perception. Not sure why this post got all of the "thumbs downs," just because you stated a fact. I know people who glorify the 50s, 60s, 70s - and for each decade, the one who glorifies it was an adolescent at the time.

By mannequin2007 [Affiliate User] 1199309339 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removetop 80's songs. Money for nothing-Dire Straights. Rockit-Herbie Hancock. Don't you want me baby-Human League. Girls Just Want To Have Fun- Cindy Lauper. Total Eclipse of The Heart-Bonnie Tyler. There are soooo many that are timeless.
By tamapalagi [Affiliate User] 1199130558 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe 80's were a time of change. throwing out the old for the new. Videos replaced audio. Pc's were becoming hore common and aids. If you were older than 15 during the 80's it was tough to keep up with the changes. We weren't computer literate and the nerds didn't rule the world then.
By tamapalagi [Affiliate User] 1199130089 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removei was 15 when this came out & loved every minute of the 80's. the best time to be a teen if you ask me.

By Nbb4eva [Affiliate User] 1198332850 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYep those were the days any movie with Rob Lowe is great!
By strke69 [Affiliate User] 1198019146 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIf you like this, you should see Metropolitan from Whit Stillman.
Different film - maybe a mix between ST.E.F. and Woody Allen - but the scene in wich Billy leaves Georgetown for New York, looks very similar to the one Nick leaves New York for the Midwest... No doubt Stillman must have thought of St.Elmo's fire while making his debute.
A definitive 80s song and video. A classic case of a song that's loved almost more for its nostalgic value. I don't know anyone who doesn't equate this song with where they were at this point in their lives. This song is hypnotic, in the best of ways. The absolute total irony of this is that it's the theme song to one of the worst movies of the 80s- a desperate attempt to keep the brat pack up with those of us who grew up watching their earlier movies.
