  • Senna's qualifying ...

    Senna's qualifying laps were the greatest laps ever put down. laps were the greatest laps ever put down. He was in another dimension ー even baulked by a backmarker and losing a second he still beat the second fastest driver in the world! Noone was ever so fast as the mighty Ayrton Senna on a qualifying lap - he was in a realm unknown to mankind!

  • Murray Walker on ...

    Murray Walker on Senna;
    "The most complete driver package of all time!"
    "Supreme in every possible way!"
    "Superhuman!"

    Most talented ever!
    Highest commitment ever!
    Fastest qualifier ever (by light years!)
    Best rainmaster ever!
    Best street-master ever!
    Best test-driver ever!
    Least mistakes!

    What else is there?!
    There's not a single thing Schui did as well as Senna! (except get contracts with team-orders giving him exclusive rights to the best car - pathetic sportsmanship!)

    No other sport had a Senna.
    F1 Encyclopeida, page 123;
    "Senna was the greatest driver ever to grace a circuit - perhaps the ultimate sportsman - the man who came closest to perfection of any sportsman in history."

    FACT!

    Damn right! I sure did! It's great that we remember GREAT, true racers. Not (as Keke Rosberg called Schumacher) "cheap cheats."

  • Thanks for this vid ...

    Thanks for this vid. Senna earns the pole with .442s loosing no more than .300s because one car in Swimming pool curve. No doubt that why he was the king of Monaco and mostly of street circuits, where the ability of driver counts. Today just put in Ferrari [or McLaren] one driver and see how he perform.

    Get a good american driver to kick everybody's butt and F1 would be bigger. I've heard Kyle Busch might go to F1,he is apparently testing for Toyota soon.

    Also americans like to be entertained and F1 isn't very "entertaining" sometimes. I love F1 but the races in Monaco usually are really boring.

  • back when it was ...

    back when it was all about the machine, and all about the man.....we will always miss these days, lets hope they come around again..tho i doubt it. We have return all the rules to about 1993 and just use modern day safety technology....and cap everything else at 1993 levels...its the only way to bring the sport back.

    tell ya what, I've driven around the monaco track in a renault modus compact. Obscene amount of fun even when not closed for racing, gives you a new perspective on just how FUCKING scary it would be going a couple of hundred Km/h faster! I'm surprised F1 drivers can fit their nuts in the cockpit.

    It's from 1990. If you watch the counter at the base of the video, the lap time is right around 1:20 or 1:21. His qualifying time in 1990 was 1:21.314. In '88 it was 1:23.998.

    This is 1990.

    I personaly, would of pissed myself between 1:26 - 1:31 if I had driving that damn fast. . . comming oh so close to 2 walls, zig-zagging through those and just come up on a car, like out of nowhere. . .I probably would of pitched the car into the armco barrier. . . Senna was unfreaking believable in his day.
