"That Lady" of course is a funk rock classic
and "Live It Up" was just sickening stank funk!--Ernie Isley and Chris Jasper were synching that clavinet with the wah-wah effect and Ernie's stratacaster!!--WOW!!
Great to see footage of them from that period!

For YEARS I've waited to see LIVE FOOTAGE of the Isleys at their PEAK. I always wondered what they were like LIVE. WOW! WOW! WOOOOOO!! My GOD! This is obviously a "tame" performance! If these guys had a full-size stage...man, it just BOGGLES my mind! Rudolph wasn't afraid to have his shirt open and let it all hang out! That's what the FUNK is ALL ABOUT! To hell with "Mr. Biggs"; THIS is what the Isleys are all about!!!!!

  • Ernie is a ...

Ernie is a self-taught guitarist. He said that he was a little league baseball player back when Jimi was living w/ him,Marvin & Mother Isley. He did say that he was 2 shy to approach Jimi about learning 2 play but Marvin did learn a few chords from Jimi but Ernie says as Jimi would return from touring w/ the older Isleys he'd always check on Marvin and as Marvin put "at that age I was 2 busy playing cowboys & Indians ans so on".

  • The Isley Brother's ...

The Isley Brother's were one of the greatest soul bands that evolved from the 20th century. By 1973 the older brothers Rudolph O'Kelly and Ronald had been performing professionally since the fifties. Ronald Isley had the ability to dazzle his female audience with his smoother than velvet falsetto voice and sensual gyrations.

  • Either way Ernie ...

Either way Ernie was one bad mug and still is. I shouldn't have said Ernie yeah I'll own up to that, but The Whole Isley Brothers Experience was a big influence on his solo stuff.

  • Rufus 317, How ...

    Rufus 317,
How could Ernie teach Jimi tricks when Ernie was a youngster,at the time when Jimi was a member of the Isley brothers at the time? (lol) Ernie learned from Jimi much later.

    Get the facts straight. :-)

I have the entire Soul Train show. I widh they would have turned Ernie's volume up. He was buried in the mix and could barely hear him.

  • I agree with you ...

I agree with you carlfia, I saw them perform on Don Kirchners Rock Concert all those years ago, and that in my opinion was their best live performance on video, the only way i think they can outdo that gig, is if the album The Isleys Live(1973)had video footage.
