Lots of patience, yes. They're very smart but very very stubborn and sometimes a little crazy with excess energy. For this reason you don't tend to see a lot of huskies who are obedience champions.

Rescue all the way. Too many huskies die in shelters because people don't know what they're getting into---and I would not recommend a husky puppy as a first dog. Huskies are trouble enough; the puppies are hell on wheels. As for how many---as a first-time dog-owner, start with one and work your way up. Good luck.

Is it hard to train a siberian husky all those tricks like gentle, do you need like, tons of patients? thanks! great video!

Thanks for your reply. I am looking to get my first dog (of course a Siberian Husky.) Do you recommend getting 2 as I've heard they can be quite unruly if left to their own devices? Also, where do you recommend getting them - I'm looking either at rescue or registered breeder, no puppy mill or anything like that.

My husband remembered advice I brought home from Tashi's puppy trainer, about teaching puppies not to mouth. Sounds dumb, but basically, the second that any puppy teeth touch human flesh, even if gently/on accident, you go "OWW!!" like they just killed you, all loud and histrionic. They soon take great pains to avoid it happening.

3 years later, he applied this to treats and a new "gentle" command. And of course, praise/treat the heck out of them when they get it right. It took no time at all.
