Motorized carrier arm of a satellite dish Unified satellite dish control unit is the most widely-spread type of satellite dish control system. The motorized carrier arm has three components. The first component is a pipe (over arm) bent at certain angle. It serves as a polar carrier arm. The second component is a metal body. There is a gear reducer, electric motor and electronic circuit of a positioning element inside of It. The operational principle of the motorized carrier arm is simple. Control signals come from a satellite receiver to electronic circuit of a positioning element. The positioning element applies voltage of certain polarity to motor engine of the motorized carrier arm redactor and controls each turn-round of the motor engine. The over arm of the motorized carrier arm turns to certain side, depending on the voltage polarity of the motor engine. Three end switches are located under a big redactor gear. Two end switches on the sides are responsible for western and eastern emergency rotation limit of over arm of motorized carrier arm. The switch in the middle serves to determine zero mark or medium position of the over arm. The third component of the motorized carrier arm is its fixation. Using the fixation you can adjust elevation angle, i.e. regulate arc-like motion trajectory of the satellite dish mirror. There are high-frequency connectors located at the bottom of the motorized carrier arm body. Usually such connectors are located at the very bottom. So they cannot be soaked when it rains. There are control buttons located near the connectors. The buttons control the turning of the motorized carrier arm. That is the so called "local control". The buttons set up the motorized carrier arm itself. There is a scale of satellite dish elevation tuning. It is located on U-fixing element of the motorized carrier arm. Elevation angle is adjusted in accordance with the geographical position of installation site.
