I don't think living in DDR was as difficult as living in this countries today.You can't comparate this with DDR.

More people were shot in the mass shootings in USA schools in the past decade than were shot crossing the Berlin Wall in all times.

That is a real tragedy.

Well there was a fenced border between East and West Germany not a wall. The wall was in Berlin. I lived very near the East German border, about a 3 minute walk from my home.

I don't know why they only talk about the Berlin Wall. In fact the wall was along the WHOLE border to West Germany AND West Berlin.

Darling, have you studied history? Do you know anything about the situation at that time? Read, study... it will serve you well understanding humanity and their need for freedom? Most of all, look at all the videos here. What confirmation of these peoples need to escape.

Sure, they could go Tchecoslovakia, Bulgaria, USSR, even China... It´s not in vain that today most half and according to some surveys even most of plp from this region wants the return of DDR. Capitalism means stupid and egoistic people, fat girls...

Obviously you have never lived under that kind of system. I made four trips to East Germany before the wall came down and it was like going back 40 years. People were afraid to speak up in case they'd be reported to the police. A state that holds its own people hostage is no state at all. At least people in West Berlin could leave if they chose, can you say that about the people held in the East?
