    The props were usually fake rubber mallets, easy-to-break vases, etc. with sound effects added. Curly did occasionally take a good smack on the head, but probably died from being so overweight.

    maybe on that one scene they goofed up, but how the hell did you think curly died. concussions from all the blows he took to the head doing this show. when a vase was dropped on his head, it was real. when they hit him in the head with a drain pipe, it was real. they knew the only way it would be truly funny is if they showed it was really real and thats what they did. thats why gary, or whatever the F**k his name was, couldnt take being in the show as long as curly and shemp did.
