The number of people becoming homeless and walking the streets to find a place to sleep is increasing - especially with banks increasing their loan rates, the number of houses being repossessed the highest since 1971 and UBS Invesment Bank warning the credit crunch will get worse before it gets better.
I've worked in a homeless shelter for the last three years and it really is happening - there are more people in there that shouldn't be there -- even married couples. Imagine a married couple having to sleep together on the streets?
Watch Peter's story of what happens when you become homeless when you haven't got drug, alcohol or mental health issues -- it's hard to believe it happens today. But it does.
The local authority and charities have to start preparing for increased numbers of people becoming homeless in this way and find a way to fast-track these people off the streets and back onto the social ladder -- enabling the outreach services the concentrate on finding those who truly do have addictions or mental health issues and need specialised help.

The system is screwing you, why not screw it back ? Is there a law against pretending to have a drug problem ? I sincerely doubt it... Anyhow, may fortune smile on you some time soon and get you off the street and into real accommodation.

Thank you for your considerate and caring help.
I've been there. It's true. Druggies have an easier time getting off the street than sober folks like me.

Britains incredibly expensive too. I think a lot of people who live beyond their means, don't realize they may be only a couple of pay checks away from living like this man.
