Joeld, The national speed limit (55 mph) law was passed in 1975 by congress two years before Carter took office. (Nixon was president)

I'll trade the tearing down the Berlin Wall for solar panels any day, even though your contention regarding Reagan is ridiculous. If you are referring to the deregulation of oil under Reagan, that ended the energy crisis caused by the Carter administration.

Let's not pin the entire energy crisis on Carter. Besides, he's the one who took initiative to help our country, even though unpopular, such as a 55 mph national speed limit. It was Reagan who ripped the solar panels off the roof. And now we're in the same place 30 years later. Thanks Reagan.

    "Carter: Hostages and failed rescue"
Just so you know, because you might be too young to remember, everyone of those hostages came home alive.

If spending is your problem, you need only know one statistic: Under Obama, our national debt will increase an astonishing 3.4 trillion over ten years. Under McCain, however, it will be a shocking 5 trillion. With Obama, you'll pay less taxes, and our country will acquire less debt. Who's the fiscal conservative now, bitches?

  • You say McCain is a ...

You say McCain is a man of war (true), Obama isn't, but nothing will change no matter who wins? C'mon man, that's just not true. These things will change if Obama is elected: no more preemptive war, we will actually use diplomacy, the health care system will improve, the economy will improve, most people will get a tax cut instead of only the rich getting tax cuts, we will start to deal with global warming & our addiction to oil & invest in green technology.
Do these issues not matter to you?

You my friend, are brain washed! Not only that, you have your numbers wrong on Bush. "Bush 4 - 4.5% (the lowest in six decades") You might want to recheck those stats. It's sad but true that Main Stream media in America has successfully divided our population. Until people wake up from this intentional brain washing the tail will continue to wag the dog.

  • Hawanja, Clearly ...

    Hawanja,

Clearly you were too young to remember the country under Carter.

Carter: Unemployment 6-7% Bush 4 - 4.5% (the lowest in six decades)
    Carter: Mortgage rates 12% to 20% Bush 5.25 -6.25%
    Carter: Inflation 11- 13% Bush 2 -3%
Carter: Loss of influence in Mid East which, can be reasonably be argued was the beginning of the issues we are dealing with there today.
    Carter: Hostages and failed rescue
Carter: Top tax bracket 70%(+state & Local)
Bush will be redeemed by History as was Truman

Do you know what's funny Konangu. Why don't you pick out another Democrat who was a failure in the 1900's to compare Obama to? Oh wait you can't. FDR gave us the New Deal, ended the Depression, got everyone electricity, and won WWII. Kennedy started us on the path to the moon which got us computers cellphones and microwaves. LBJ finally freed all Americans and Bill Clinton oversaw the largest economic boom in world history. The Republicans fail.

zehkern: I suspect you are too young to remember what it was like under Jimmy Carter. Obama's positions & philosophy are strikingly similar to Carter's. It gave us 20% interest rates, double digit inflation, long gas lines, it can be argued that his mid-east policy lead to radical Islam gaining influence in the region, we had a "misery" index (inflation/unemployment) unemployment was at 7% by the time Carter left office (as compared to what Obama calls high under Bush 4.5%) You mention research.

  • BootBazaar: you ...

BootBazaar: you write; "Obama will CUT TAXES for 95% of Americans. Only the top 2-3% will see a tax increase".
That is just income tax, he wants to double capital gains (affects 60%), reinstitute the death tax, (we all die) Increase corp taxes, affects 100% of the people (unless you don't buy food, fuel, clothing, use a phone, pay for utilities.
Do the math, take 100% of the income of the top 3% of earners, it can't pay for his $1.6 TRILLION in proposed new spending.
    Look beyond the rhetoric.
