The birth attendants are also responsible to ensure this whether the mother asks or not. I can show you research if you would like. I am not sure what your point in all of this is...as it is a fact that skin to skin contact is important after birth...in the world of research there isn't any debate about that. take care

your question was "why wasn't the mother given her baby?". my reply was that this is a homebirth. If the mother wanted, as you said, "immediate bonding/contact", no one would have stopped her. it was obviously her choice to have it the way she did.
