  • Thanks uma! :) ...

Thanks uma! :) Good question. My answer is no. I've been using my primary toaster oven AND big oven to bake clay stuff for years. So far no one has died. :) I DO however dedicate a couple baking dishes to clay only. I don't mix food and clay containers.
I have a 'baking tips' video planned for a future project...I'll include this info as well. Thanks for asking!

Hello! I love your tutorials, they are so concise and your presentations is so calm. I have a very basic question, do you HAVE to have a clay dedicated oven, or can you just insert the beads into a disposable oven tray? Thank you so much and please keep the videos coming!

    They are great.
Don't listen to the people who have no idea how hard you work to give us these great tutorials and complain they are too long. They are not too long, they are very well explained!
Also, let me just say, it's a pleasure to hear you voice. It's sweet and cute! You look like a cute little doll! :)
    Thank you for sharing.

  • Also, let your ...

Also, let your beads rest for several hours (or chill them in the fridge if you're in a rush) before piercing them. The clay will be firmer and the bead shape won't distort as much. There are lots of tips for putting holes in beads...maybe I should make a video on it. :)

  • Sorry to take so ...

Sorry to take so long answering your comment questions. We've had computer problems for WEEKS now.
The clay is very sturdy if you don't make jewelry pieces too thin. For bracelet beads I don't make them thinner than 3/16" or 1/4". Try to make the hole in the center of the bead (no matter what thickness it is). I use a sewing needle to pierce the clay before baking.

Thank you for the video, I really enjoyed it.
I am new to polymer clay and I was wondering if you could give my some tips regarding making holes in the clay for jewelry. (Ie: how thick should the piece be, how far should the hole be from the edge.) I'm worried about my pieces falling apart after they are worn for a while. Thank you for your time.

LOL! It makes me smile to know I have helped to feed a new clay addiction! ;)
I honestly don't know when I'll make the next video. It's hard to do one that hasn't already been done by another clayer, OR is currently being taught in workshops, OR is covered in available books, OR in dvd (for sale) videos. It's a tricky situation I tell ya. :) But I do hope to make more tutorials in the future. I do!

Thank you for being so polite with my question. When are ya gonna do more? You have me totally hooked and I need to see more. Sort of a spark of my interest in this clay world. Do they have a 12 step for clay addicts? lol Just kidding.

  • No, that's not a ...

No, that's not a stupid question. I use Premo and Kato brands of clay and I've never made anything that felt like plastic. These tile beads are nice, substantial feeling beads. If polymer clay is cured completely it should be nice and firm. However! There are bendable polymer clays, but I've never used them. :)
