what separate us as human from animals is our consciousness, & compassion. regret our cruel behavior, admit to our mistakes and feeling of guilt. for the turkish government and the ultranationalist/fascists I would say it's not a sin to admit to the genocides you committed against the armenians,greeks,assyrians,& kurds but it's sin to deny it and to continue the same policy towards you neighbors and the kurds in particular, democracy & peace are the only option to be part of civilized nations

yes I am Turkish.I know many Turkish ppl knows history and the truth.Unfortunately we dont have freedom of speech,religion,expression etc.Thats why many ppl doesnt tell openly like O.Pamuk.Starting to join EU some law changed and ppl start to talk about historical reality

are you a türk? I know few turkish guys and they told me that they hate Pamuk, and again the reason was politics and not that he writes bad literature. but I hope (really) that there are turkish people who have guts to face the truth about their own history (every nation have his own black spots on its brave face, even mine and everybody elses) and arent condemning Pamuks books because he tries to speak about it.

I agree..After that( About Armenians and Kurds) speech Turkish fascist group threatened O.Pamuk and he left Turkey for a while.

He is very exiting this speech.I believe after Nobel prize he had very strong pressure his head because of Turkish fascist group who blamed him about Armenians issue later he left Turkey because of his life threatining.

Which one you decribe not a Turkish ppl.You are telling about Turkish oligarchy..They control Turkish grand Assembly with army..etc.

Orhan Pamuk is one of the best novelists in the world..just because of people like you with a fashistic point of view turkey is still staying behind so many things...Orhan Pamuk told the world the truth about Turkey's real situation...there has been a genocide on the Armenian folk and hell yeah it is damn true that the Kurds are oppressed by the Turks since the year one! Long live Orhan Pamuk!!!

I´m very sorry for turkish people who mix politic and great art. I love pamuks work. He deserve this Prize for his books. You just envy him and you hate him because of what he says about Armenians and Kurds...this is politics and not art- you dont want to see truth, you fascist.
