From what I can gather on the web, the government has just said it will keep the road tax as it is; the opposition wants to reduce it. I can find no reference in English to exstinctions etc apart from your own.

You seem to be implying that any politician anywhere who fails to curb road-building is an unspeakable fiend. This is a rather extreme point of view, isn't it?

What I had said was about 道路特定財源 "particular tax for roads".
It is policy that constructs useless road destroying beautiful nature. And, it is funds that destroy historical scenery that UNESCO is planning as World Heritage. The destroyer is minister of land & traffic, Tetsuzou Fuyushiba. The ministry of land & traffic is also constructing dams that kill many animals, birds and many plants.
New Koumei is doing such absurd action with fascist LDP.

As you already know, because I have said this before to you, Ikeda's abhorrence of homicide is well known. He discussed capital punishment at some length in his dialogue with Arnold Toynbee. Komeito was separated from the Soka Gakkai around 1970 in order that SG not get mired in party politics. If Ikeda took a stance on too many "political" issues, that would put pressure on SG members to conform, which would be oppressive and discourage members from forming their own opinions on such matters.

This is all nonsense. There are quite a few comments being left on youtube recently by followers of Richard Koshimizu, a Japanese extremist who, among other things, believes that the Soka Gakkai is part of a North Korean plot to destroy Japan.

In a sense you could say that the purpose of SGI and of Nichiren Buddhism is to enable people to conquer their own fears so that they will not be liable to be taken in by this kind of stuff.
