The Battle for France 1940

The most ridiculous thing is that we never learn of previous mistakes, during WWI, the German attacked Belgium before attacking France and almost circled around French troops. And following to this the Maginot line wich was a defensive line against invasion was not protecting us on the Belgian Frontier. As Belgium declared itself neutral in 1936 and the cooperation for the defense line was broken... So the german did it again through Belgium. and bypassed the French troops...

Moreover there were many troubles in France, as it is known that the Communist people sabotaged the weapon productions in France as they wanted that the actual regime to be removed and replaced by a communist regime as in Russia. So in France there was a lot of confusion at that time.

The main example of the blindness of the people at that time is that Chamberlain (UK) and Daladier (France) closed their eyes for all the infractions of the Nazis (Munich treaty). when coming back to France after Munich, Daladier thought that he was going to be sacked by the people, on the contrary he was acclaimed as the savior of peace (He said : "The fools...if they knew...").
French people did not want of that war...it was lost in advance...

I'm french and I am ashamed of the blindness which has characterised the French and English Prime Ministers at that time. It was apparent that war could not be avoided but the English and French citizens did not want of another big war.
