k well pure nitrate is the best but u need license for hard chemicals like that because u can make TnT from pure nitrate and TnT is really explosive.and thats why they stoped distributing Kno3 in Americas and some Europe countries also because of 9/11 and other bombings world wide :(

yeah thats what i meant cus i remember mixing that fertaliser with ( you know what =p ) and blowing S**t up, it waz my dads fertaliser
but since then iv found its super hard to find and when ya do find it you need a very good reason to get it & you have to sign for it

I´m from Germany, here it`s also hard to get NH4NO3, but i can extract it from fertilzer, wich conatins approx. 70% NH4NO3.
But it`s hard to get KNO3 here, sometimes you can find it as fertilzer (99% pure).

no kno3 is an oxident it makes stuff burn faster. sodium nitrate is ok but it S**ks the water out of its surrounding therefore it is absolutely useless, so is clacium nitrate

um i don't know where you are from but its really hard to get ammonium nitrate in Australia
+ im assuming its really expensive. . .
so why not just go buy 50kg's of potassium nitrate for $50 lol

no separating Ammonium chloride from NaNO3 would require many recrystallizations (extra work for you) you could use NaCO3/dehydrated washing or baking soda however to form NaNO3.

second can sodium cloride (salt) be use insted of potassium carbonate to make sodium nitrate and would that be flammable?

it`s a strong exothermic reaction, especially with KOH.

well.. it looks like you know a lot about this things, the i will ask you, HNO3 is not expesive... here... 1L for 40 pesos (i'm from mexico xD)

however, supose i'm a rich man (jajajaja) that want to create KNO3 from HNO3... it's and endotermic or exotermic reaction??????????

Because HNO3 is to expensive and hard to get, better use it for other things ;)
The K2CO3 method is cheap and the chems are easy to buy.
I don`t need the KNO3, i have about 50kg, so it`s just for fun.
