It's just the victim getting their revenge on those who wronged them, and if they happen to kill someone who is innocent that person then did something wrong. I love school shootings, they should be done more often. The only reason there are school shootings is because the kids mess with a kid so much that he eventualy starts shooting the S**t out of them. Which is good, they don't deserve mercy and have proven themselves unworthy of their existance.

Good memories of seeing this in 1989 at the local cinema. Good times.

The Abyss won the 1990 Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It was also nominated for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration, Best Cinematography and Best Sound. The studio lobbied hard to get Michael Biehn nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, but to no avail.

We are talking Ed harris and Michael Biehn here :) And for not mentioning James cameron the man :D High class movie! Effects and music!

I reckon the special edition is one of my all-time favorite movies, without doubt. The atmosphere, the story, and the unforgettable characters combine to make something incredible. Truly underrated.

Greatest classic cult movie. My favorite ( Theatrical version).

Just in case, I do realize that they didn't go down an actual abyss, but they sure make it look like it without CGI. :)
