George St Pierre Armbar

I have troubles when i get the mount and the person does nothing but tuck his arms into his chest and defend. He is not trying to escape or anything. Just waiting for me to go for an armbar or other submission. Can anyone with experience tell me if this is the best solution.

what he means is when you drop back on the armbar youre risking giving up your dominant position. if you fall forward then theres less chance to get reversed. also if the guy bridges or something you can still maintain a mount.

i disagree with his statement when he says falling backwards the opponent can escape, most armbars are applied back towards the ground, i feel that if u drop back backwards u stil can apply armbar w/o opponent eascaping.
