the original what? as in, someone else sang it first, or someone else wrote it? it is not exactly like the version on the Blue Sky Night Thunder album. The album is so good...buy it, or download.

It is a sad song, but a beautiful one. Murphey's voice is so clear and haunting. I'm an animal lover, and even though this is just a song about perhaps a fictional horse -- it still makes my eyes puddle. This song is on the "Blue Sky Night Thunder" album and I saw this concert in Dallas in about 1975 (yes, I'm old!). The whole album is great, so buy the cd and enjoy "Medicine Man" is another good one. The condert was excellent!
