Thanks brother, My opinion and i do not at all say anyione should follow this, is that the reason i DO NOT watch TV, Go to the movies, and play and waste my time, is because I dont think the salaf and the sahaba were doing things like this. they were instead working for a living and aquiring knowledge and worshiping ALLAH.
and when I think of them and I think of what people do today ( wasting time and leasuring) I KNOW that I should not be wasting time.

(i) 'Fard' i.e. compulsory or obligatory
(ii) 'Mustahab' i.e. recommended or encouraged
(iii) 'Mubah' i.e. permissible or allowed
(iv) 'Makruh' i.e. not recommended or discouraged
(v) 'Haraam' i.e. prohibited or forbidden
music is haraam b/c it has instruments but i think telivision andvideo games fall into makruh

Sheikh Yusuf is correct in this. TV and sports can have strong negative influences on people and are notorious ways for people to waste their time and they become very addictive. For quite some time, we have had no signal to the TVs in our home and borrow tapes and DVDs from our local library. Our children don't seem to be missing anything by doing this.

yes i guess i should not take it that far but you know in islam it is somtimes hard to tell if somthing is haram or halah, like being zabiha should we or should we not? it gets very confusing.

Assalama Alaykum. Brother, I don't think we should take it that far. It's very dangerous to judge someone's Iman based on a single opinion he or she holds. Even the Ulamaa' have wildly varying decisions. I know you agree with Sheikh Yusuf fully, as you've made it clear, but just be cautious. That's all I'm saying.
