  • TOLKIEN WOULD ...

TOLKIEN WOULD ROLLLLLLLL IN HIS GRAVE IF HE SAW THIS. LOTR was an intelligent story and Jackson and company geekified it. The races and objects and places all stood for very elegant ideas and Jackson and co were neurotic about it when this film could have been more aesthetic. Jackson made the film quite awkward and lame-ish with a fat Sam and weird moronic merry and pippin. None of that is in the book the way Tolkien wrote it. Jackson changed the characters needlessly.

  • I figured it would ...

I figured it would have been in Lorien, but they didn't fight any orcs in the books (Haldir says he dared not shoot a creature (Gollum) when the orcs passed by them at night. I think that this scence was like Amon Hen (in the books, Aragorn did not fight at all) or the Warg Attack in TTT, just action added to make a more exciting film for non-LOTR fans. maybe in the end, PJ decided the movie had enough action without this scene.

  • Well, in the books, ...

Well, in the books, when the fellowship get out of Minas Moria, they reach the woods of Lorien but not in the same day they find with the elfs of Lorien, they spend a night in the forest, and they were attacked by orcs, so they are escaping from them when they find with Haldir and the other elfs and they fight with the orcs, or sort of. that's is the scene that PJ tries to show in a fast way, but he cut it out anyway, i would love to see that scene in the extended cut, may be in future editions.
