wow... it's really interesting that so many people feel exactly the same about this. I know this film since I'm five or six years old and seeing that there are still enough people who haven't yet let their brains be destroyed by today's trashy popular culture and hold this wonderful film in similar high esteem is really comforting.

I can't help but feel a little tear coming to my eyes as I see this clip, I grew up with it, and it's still my favorite film and "Smile" my favorite piece of music...this is just as good as it gets...

This ending is only surpassed by the one in L'Atalante (if that's possible). Strange that I like this one even better than the ending of City Lights (but with masterpieces of this kind there is actually no "better" or "worse"). The end of a Chaplin-film is like a death, even if in this case it is more of a "happy" ending, it still tears me down.
